[Manjoume also doesn't actually watch that many movies... at least not any that don't end up involving Duel Monsters. The exception to this is romance movies because Fubuki got him to watch some as part of his "teaching the ways of love with Fubuki-shishou" nonsense lessons, but he sure as hell not going to be looking for any to watch here while he's with Bakugou.
Once they reach the physical laser tag course, he's looking over the equipment with interest, and seems to actually be listening intently enough when the (probably not paid enough for this judging by their bored tone) employee explains the rules and how the game is meant to be played while not even looking up from the magazine that they're currently reading. But that's fine, since it looks like it's just going to be the two of them playing right now, and thus they don't need to really be that concerned about whether or not other people around them are bothering to pay attention to the rules either when Manjoume turns his attention to Bakugou once they've been given the all clear to enter and start.]
[Bakugou's the same, wanting to watch movies that deal with heroes and/or go for action or thrillers. He likes to be invested and excited when he's waiting a film, not rolling his eyes or feeling like it's stupid. Count him out on sappy romance films or even most comedies and dramas. Those'll get him snarling and abandoning it in a moment.
He's played before so while the employee is droning on about his speech, Bakugo helps Manjoume with the equipment. In that he throws it at his face and expect the duelist to catch it. A vest over the shoulders connects around the waist and chest. A belt about the hips with fasteners hooking around the knees. Sleeves from shoulder to wrist with similar ties. Along each of these clothing items are strips, and adorning those strips are small flat lights. Beneath the vest, two corded wires plug into the battery pack and sensor unit sewn into the back's underside. These cords link from the back to the elbow and down the forearm to a separate wristband. Before protruding out to be plugged into the laser pistols in each hand. Dual wield, hell yeah.]
One more thing.
[A visor headset and mic attaches to the vest under the collar, linking up all three sets of items. Sensor fields tie in everything, allowing the guns to fire lasers and be picked up by the lights on the clothes. The headset displays the status of the opponent, including how many lights (targets) they have remaining and the time, as well as how many opponents there are. The gun has three settings: a normal pistol shot for medium range, a rifle for sniping long range, and a shotgun blast at short range.]
[Thankfully, Manjoume does catch the equipment being tossed at his face without whiffing it. He watches Bakugou and copies with how to wear said equipment and headset, and once he has his own gun in hand (singular, for now, as he's keeping one of the laser pistols holstered instead of dual wielding just yet...), he speaks.]
Good. Let's do this.
[At the green light to go, Manjoume doesn't immediately rush into the designated area guns blazing, but is immediately looking for a good place to scope out and strategize from once he has a layout of the laser tag area. Basically, playing in a similar fashion to how he tends to duel: making sure he's watched his enemy first and setting up the right cards that will set off the most explosive finishing moves against a target. Whether or not this pays off in laser tag, however, remains to be seen...]
[Rather than set the up to go against each other, Bakugou elected for a targeting round, where robotic guns pop out of different areas and take shots at the two of them. If a shot lands, it'll light up the nearest light on the target's clothing, but only once per shot. No splash damage. Their score results in how many of their opponents they take out and how many shots they took in the process.
Once Manjoume takes his spot to scope out the area, Bakugou opts to duck behind cover and give the hallways a quick scan. With the black lights and neon paint, he can't see any "holes" where the guns would pop out. Apparently they change locations between games, so no point in trying to remember where from his last time here. He abruptly bolts out from his scoping spot and blitzes down the hall. Guns emerge from the darkness almost as quickly and Bakugou rebounds off his hands to jump through the air, twisting as he snaps off shot after shot before landing and vanishing behind another shelter.
[It's after Bakugou dashes behind another shelter that Manjoume makes his own move, taking this as an opportunity to move from his own shelter to shoot at the two targets that have yet to retract back into the holes and score points from those before they can redirect to aim toward whim..
The next round of targets proceed to pop out as a result, and Manjoume quickly tries to scatter several shots as he runs to the next shelter he spots to duck down behind.
3 out of 5 go down once more, not unlike Bakugou's prior attempt.]
[Hmph, Manjoume does have some aiming proficiency. Where the hell did he learn that? Or why. They don't have to throw their cards very far to land the Duel Disk. A hobby? As the two guns sink back into the wall, Bakugou pokes his head out to look into the following hallway, keeping a gun cocked in case he has to cover Manjoume's final evasion.
As soon as those targets spring to life, Bakugou snaps off shots at the guns swinging down to capitalize on Manjoume's target shots. Each one goes back into the wall before it gets a chance to fire at the duelist, though that prevents them from getting any further targets outside of Manjoume's group.]
[You can thank the training he's been doing in simulations back at base for Manjoume getting better at aiming, ever since the first Kaiju they fought that he needed to hit with a harpoon gun.]
Yeah, we are. [Manjoume looks around trying to remember where the remaining four are still located, before he turns his attention to Bakugou again.]
You wanna try taking the left side this time while I take the ones on the right?
[Bakugou's not going to rag on him for putting that practice to good use. Now that he's got his Duel Monsters back, even if not completely akin to his world, Manjoume's gotten better and better. Hell of the hero's ever going to say it, but he rather likes watching the duelist duel in battle. His options are pretty damn flexible.]
No. Those things will focus on the person moving. I'll go through and draw their fire. You take out the top two. [He'll handle the lower pair. Manjoume's good enough to snipe the upper guns. Bakugou waits for affirmation before blitzing down the hall again, twisting onto his back mid-lunge to fire at the guns taking aim.]
[Manjoume keeps an eye on the targets carefully, and once Bakugou takes off, Manjoume is quick to do the same when the best moment to do so strikes, the upper targets aiming as Bakugou quickly disposes of the lower targets first. Before the top two can take the chance to hit Bakugou in retaliation, Manjoume manages to shoot at them both, bringing both of them down!]
[Bakugou hits the ground and rolls, bounces back to his feet, and stands up, not even bothering to dash for cover, showing a distinct trust (and expectation) that Manjoume will cover him. He turns to glance at the targets as they retreat back into the darkness. No lights on either of their bodies. Not bad. Ten out of ten without a hit taken. That's what he likes to see.] We're gonna wipe this place out without a fucking strike.
[Manjoume is pretty motivated now to keep up the pace that they've got going, determined to make sure that they get perfect scores across the board. It's an enthusiasm that manages to carry him throughout the rest of the game, in fact, as Bakugou will find that the next round of targets are quickly wiped out between the two of them with neither one of them getting hit, putting them on the last round for the laser tag game that promises to have faster and sneakier targets to be prepared for.
Not that Manjoume is worried, given how well the two of them have been working together up to this point. This final round should be a piece of cake too, right?]
[Bakugou alternates between trusting Manjoume's skill and watching his back, snapping off shots towards guns and targets that the duelist isn't focused on via the same intention. They're racking up good points, though a few times they have to physically knock the other out of the way to avoid a third option trying to sneak a shot while they're distracted. Bakugou operates the same as he does in battle, going in blazing while keeping an acrobatic and speedy evasion. Ducking behind shelter, vaulting over obstacles, knocking out one target after another. Some areas they have to study first before going in, like this last one.
Bakugou looks into the area, scowling at all the black among the colored lines. The blacklight makes seeing any hiding places of the guns impossible, so they have to guesstimate based on the darkness.] Keep to the right side. There's more cover.
[Manjoume peers into the darkness, focusing on the right side Bakugou has indicated here to try to see if there is in fact more cover to work from there. As far as he can tell, it looks like there should be a source of cover close enough to quickly throw himself behind as soon as they enter this next area, but...]
What about you? Are you gonna be trying to take the left side then?
[Bakugo scowls at the direction he mentioned. Between the pillars and hills, they have to watch out for any cutout holes that serve as sneaky spots to catch people thinking they can use the space so easily.]
The left side has less shit there. Meaning there's probably more guns to deal with. If we stay to the right, we can eliminate more options shooting at us.
Fair enough. You wanna run to the right first, and I can shoot the ones that react to your presence? As much as I had to admit it, you are a faster runner than I am, so you'll probably be able to avoid getting hit right away if you go out first.
[When dealing with the unknown aggressors, it's always best to keep your back to a wall, eliminating one potential direction you're vulnerable from.
He frowns at the suggestion. Splitting up isn't a great idea, but using himself as a target while Manjoume stays behind to take out the appearing guns is smart.]
Alright. But don't make yourself a target doing that.
[He wants Manjoume to keep covered. With that, Bakugou takes off down the right side, almost instantly having to dive and roll when the guns return from the dark.]
[Having Bakugou go first gives Manjoume the chance to see which targets react first to the other boy's presence and act accordingly.
Sure enough, when the guns emerge from the darkness, Manjoume quickly shoots the ones that appear first closest to the spot that Manjoume is still hiding in. This still leaves the ones too far away to hit from here, but thankfully Bakugou rolls and ducks behind another spot before he can get hit by those ones.
Manjoume thinks for a moment before he turns his attention to where Bakugou is hiding and tries to signal a suggestion, for Bakugou to cover him when Manjoume runs out to join him, and hit the remaining ones he had not managed to hit when they re-emerge again in response.]
[He manages to land two hits over the cover of his hill, but has to jerk down and hide when three more take over the firing. Can't risk getting snapped and lose their perfect streak at the last stretch. There's no timer here, but he's aiming for a quick run as well, wanting to completely dominate the game and leave his mark. Like always.
Manjoume's shots hit true, retracting some of the guns and lessening the shelling working at Bakugou's shelter. He glances up at the gesture, eyes narrowing when he catches onto the implication. So now this guy wants to join him? He could hit the remainders, but that leaves more further down the line. He'd wanted to get to the end and trap the "gunners" between them, but without Manjoume moving, the guns wouldn't fire.
Tch, fine. They'll break it up. He gives the duelist the okay and prepares to cover his approach.]
[Once he's been given the okay and Bakugou appears to be prepared, Manjoume takes a deep breath... and then rushes out to head towards him.
Manjoume manages to hit the targets that he failed to hit the last time when they re-emerge again now that he's close enough to do so, but new targets proceed to spring up now, perhaps in response to now detecting more than one person now being present in this particular room. Hopefully Bakugou will be able to shoot enough of those ones in time for Manjoume to duck and roll behind shelter here?]
[As soon as Manjoume moves, Bakugou takes aim from his vantage spot. He quickly sights and snaps two shots off against the reappearing guns and their targets, shutting both down before they can fire. More start to appear, exactly as he thought, and he aims for them as well. Both arms this time, firing left and right, a spread to try and keep them restrained. He has to duck down again once his interference draws their fire, but at least it gives Manjoume the time to get behind the cover as Katsuki grabs for his arm and pulls him in.]
[Normally Manjoume might have bitched about Bakugou grabbing on his arm and pulling him somewhere, but for once he can make an exception since it does actually save his ass from getting hit by one of the firing guns.]
Tch... well that vould have gone slightly better. But still no hits yet at least.
[Unlike normal guns, laser guns don't have a fucking reload time. Bakugou presses his back to the surface behind them, keeping away from any of the cutouts that might jeopardize their safety. He glances up above them at the left wall, but any guns appearing there don't seem able to aim down enough to strike them. Apparently they know that as well and aren't emerging.]
They're focusing on this area. We use the same technique. I'll go, draw their fire, you take as many out as soon as they change targets. Don't move until they stop firing your way.
[Manjoume makes sure that his gun is held up again and ready to aim for targets before giving Bakugou a gesture to indicate that he's ready. Once Bakugou is ready and moves, Manjoume will make sure to immediately aim for whichever targets emerge to try to hit Bakugou on his way out.]
If you have to drop, stay covered until I signal you can move. [With that, Bakugo shoves forward, blitzing out of the cover of the hill and dashing for the next one. He keeps himself moving, jerking back or ducking to prevent the lasers from shooting where he's "going to be" rather than simply staying ahead of them. Taking out two in the process, he quickly makes it to the next area, securing a good cover for him to fire on anything still focusing on Manjoume.]
[Manjoume takes care to take out as many targets as he can once Bakugou starts moving, and then when it's his turn to head out at the signal given, Manjoume takes out the next remaining ones while Bakugou takes care of any out of Manjoume's aim and reach Soon enough, he manages a quick roll behind the cover Bakugou is hiding behind as he tries to scan their surroundings again.]
Did we do it? Is that all of them, or do you see any more?
