[ On Christmas morning, a drone visits your character's dorm room and drops a package by their door. Once they touch the package, a chip will interact with their implant and a message will be projected into their vision:
Dear Jun,
LILITH wishes you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We're expecting great things from you in the coming year. Make sure you don't disappoint.
Of Manjoume hauling ass across a section of Disneyland with a gecko hot on his tail, trying to blank out the flashing duel disk while the lizard's slobbering in hunger. Like a fucking cartoon.]
[ There's a box outside Manjoume's door on the fifth, first thing in the morning. Inside the box is half a dozen danishes. The flavors range from cream cheese to blueberry and strawberry, and the danishes are rectangular. Almost like playing cards!
[Manjoume genuinely doesn't remember what day it is or why Yor would think to give him such a nice gift (he's not used to getting stuff like this), so as a result, she does get a text from him here once he's discovered the treats outside his door.]
[It's the later evening of the 1st when Manjoume will find a simple but smart gift box outside his door. Who left it? Who knows. Firm edges dig at his fingers slightly when he picks it up, suggesting something heavy inside. Nestled securely within is an envelope as well as two distinct gifts: a sturdy card binder, on the off chance Manjoume finds cards he wants to keep beyond his own deck, and two finebottles of sparkling wine (the non-alcoholic kind) for him to enjoy solo or with someone else.]
"Be ready at 10am tomorrow. I've got a few places planned for us to go and you can pick which ones you want. Don't stuff yourself at lunch, because I'm making you an ebi fry dinner when we get back. Happy Birthday, Manjoume.
You keep surprising me with how resilient you are. Even without your normal strength, you fought alongside us and helped anyone you could. I know it's not the same as it was back home, but I'm glad you regained your Deck. Thanks, for letting me learn more about it. Now I've seen how skilled you are, how you keep improving no matter what. Even if you have a knack for pissing me off.
When we go home, you better make it all the way to the top and become a Pro Duelist everyone will look up to. I won't accept you telling me anything less when we see each other again.
[Oh, wow. This might actually be the nicest gift he's been offered for his birthday in a long time. Not just the card binder and wine, but the second half of the note takes Msnjoume a little by surprise as it's a lot more depth than he genuinely expected Bakugo to get in a note attached to his birthday gift.
He's kind of relieved this is a note and not a text because this means he's not expected to have an immediate response. Then again, Bakugo knows Manjoume well enough to know that he's awkward at trying to reciprocate friendly sentimentality anyway so he probably isn't expecting Manjoume to actually say anything about it.
Still, he folds the note carefully, and after a moment of consideration, puts it inside of his deck box where he keeps his cards when they're not in use. That way it's kept secure and won't end up lost somewhere.
It's kind of funny, to actually have something to look forward to in this place as he waits for tomorrow morning to arrive.]
[Since the note didn't say anything about having a response to the words, only that Manjoume be ready to spend the day out, he's not expected to have anything ready to say. Bakugou certainly doesn't want to start the day with some damn awkward attempt at commenting on a thing he wants Manjoume to keep and not bring up. That was emotional stuff and he's content to leave it in the envelop, read and understood, and let that be that.
Bakugou is outside Manjoume's door at 10 as told, knocking on the door before slipping his hands into his pockets. It's far too hot outside to be wearing his usual all black ensemble, so a white tank top with a light sleeveless button-down overshirt settles over tan cargo shorts and solid sneakers.]
[Manjoume is also ready to go right at 10, and while he does still have his coat despite it being way too hot outside to reasonably warrant such a thing (it's fine, he is used to wearing black during summer temperatures on an island), he's at least wearing a more casual short-sleeved top rather than a turtleneck under it this time. He keeps his tone pretty chill, even if there's a noticeable enthusiasm in his step as he closes the door behind him when he steps outside to meet with Bakugou.]
[ It's already late afternoon when Elan calls Manjoume out, a spontaneous decision after a day of being cooped up at base and made to go through training. He doesn't even have a destination in mind, he just feels like cutting loose.
Elan greets him with a grin that's more of a grimace. Hopefully the evening will only get better, but LILITH is really harshing his mood so these are the vibes. He wheels his motorcycle out of the parking lot and tosses Manjoume a helmet. ]
[Manjoume doesn't object to being called out--he had just been sorting cards in his room, not really doing anything that could be considered too important. Even if organizing his Duel Monster cards does help him take his mind off certain things, like how much this place sucks even worse than usual lately...
Manjoume manages to catch the helmet without dropping it, thankfully, as he approaches the motorcycle.]
Sure.
[There's a pause, like he's about to ask where they're going, before he then seems to decide not to--he's willing to just wait and see where Elan decides to go once he's put the helmet on and gets seated here.]
[ If Manjoume had asked, Elan would have responded that it's a surprise. He's figuring it out last minute so where they're going is a mystery even to him. ]
Grab on.
[ He tells Manjoume before revving the motorcycle and speeding off... Only for them to get stuck in Neo Tokyo rush hour traffic right away because someone's crashed their vehicle up ahead on the freeway or something. Just great. Elan sighs. ]
Yeah, we're not gonna sit through that. Hang on!
[ The engine growls as he propels them forward and starts weaving in between the cars. ]
[It's a little embarrassing to have to hold on to another person when on the back of a motorcycle, but Manjoume sucks it up since he does not in fact want to end up being sent flying off the back of the vehicle here. Initially it's a little awkward, but not necessarily clingy, until Elan proceeds to then decide to try to beat the traffic by quickly weaving in between cars, which has Manjoume give a slight yelp at the sudden increase in speed and tightening his hold on Elan here.
... Listen, he has not been on a motorcycle before until he ended up here in Neo Tokyo and has since been exposed to them more often.
Thank God for the helmet so that he can hide the way his face is probably wearing the expression of a startled raccoon or something until Elan either slows down again or they've reached wherever their destination ends up being.]
[Perhaps it's a surprise he would even ascribe to this kind of sappy holiday spirit. Yet there they are, a small collection of gifts robed in smart black wrapping with orange and green ribbon (those are his colors) with a small card tagged on the top. Don't let people tell you Bakugo's unable to feel or do something nice. But hell if he's gonna stick around for Manjoume to find it.
Yeah so in November, the Halloween/Fall Festival celebration had several carnival game booths, including one with an airgun and a very interesting prize: impressive quality figurines made right there in the side shop. I'll fetch the thread link if you want. Of course Bakugo got one made for himself. Because he's a prick like that. Only to return the next day for something personal. With Manjoume's deck and duel disc returned to him, the question of what to get someone with that kind of skill and ego got a lot harder. Until...
Which is why, nestled within one of the boxes, is familiar figure safely protected from any jostle or damage. Did Bakugou include the Ojamas because he knew they were important to Manjoume despite his distaste or them, or because the blonde's never going to not pick at the duelist? Likely both. But there it is.
The other box contains an ice pack and an impressive array of fried shrimp, ranging from different flavored herbs to dipping sauces to size. Enough for a hearty meal if he wants to eat them all himself. Bakugou didn't even leave things for "leftovers" when making them; he used ever last dredge up. Better stick them in the fridge quickly...
Hey Buzzsaw Hair. Next time that guy opens his store, I'll take you there in case you wanna get anything else made. You stuck around through a lot this year. I'm kinda impressed. If you ever decide to go forward with marketing DM here, let me know.
[Yes gimme that link Manjoume was not expecting such a high quality figure of himself as a Christmas gift here... it reminds him a little of the kind of merch that was made of legendary duelists Yugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba when he was a kid. At first, he's a little miffed that it includes the Ojamas rather than his super cool Armed Dragon, but as he looks over them, something in his chest aches just a little at how these little figures of them actually seem to catch their real personalities as opposed to just being copied from the artwork on their cards. He will never say out loud that he misses them, but he does not remove them from the figure and lets them take their rightful place alongside their duelist once he carefully sets the figure down on his night stand.
As for the ebifry... well that's definitely getting eaten, if not immediately. It is his favorite food after all, and in addition to the figure, it's a nice little reminder that even though this place sucks a lot sometimes, there are still in fact good things about it too. At least in that he can still eat his favorite food, prepared by one of his best friends that he's managed to make here.]
[ On 12/25, Manjoume will find a present addressed to him. Inside is a futuristic electronic board that can project the layouts of different board games so long as they've been paid for and downloaded. It's been preloaded with a few strategic games of Elan's choice. Embedded into the board is an AI agent so Manjoume can play against simulated players, but Elan will be grabbing him at some point to play together. ]
[ On Christmas morning, there will be an elegantly wrapped package waiting, along with a festive card. ]
Mr. Manjoume,
As the Christmas season graces us with its quiet beauty, I take this opportunity to extend to you my warmest wishes for a holiday filled with peace, joy, and the company of those you hold dear. May the New Year bring you health, happiness, and all manner of good fortune.
With kindest regards, Sebastian Michaelis
[ Inside the package is an assortment of fine and extremely delicious baked goods--all made by Sebastian himself, naturally. ]
[Oh?? He was not expecting this at all. He knew that Sebastian lauded himself as a good butler, but to bake such delicious food to offer as a gift too... Manjoume will definitely need to do something in exchange for the guy as soon as possible.
... After he eats this. It would be rude otherwise if he didn't enjoy it as soon as possible.]
